Update: Zambia Army Shortlisted Candidates for 2023

The government has successfully finalized the shortlisting process for eligible candidates interested in military service. On February 24, 2023, the names of the selected applicants will be announced through various print media outlets.

In a press conference held today in Lusaka, Defence Minister AMBROSE LUFUMA confirmed that the shortlisted individuals are currently undergoing thorough security checks and verification procedures to ensure the accuracy of their details.

Emphasizing the urgency, Mr. LUFUMA emphasized the government’s dedicated and frantic efforts to ensure the timely release of the shortlisted candidates’ names. The Minister urged applicants to remain patient during the final stages of the hiring process.

It is worth noting that the number of applicants surpassed expectations, with over 200,000 individuals applying to join the Zambia Army, Zambia Air Force, and Zambia National Service. Unfortunately, the available slots only amount to 5,000, resulting in a highly competitive selection process.

Zambia Army Shortlisted Candidates 2023/2024: Is the List Out?

Over 5,000 candidates have been selected for commissioned and non-commissioned positions in the Defense Forces, according to the government. Out of the 236,000 applicants for positions in the Zambia Army, Zambia National Service, and Zambia Air Force, only 5,000 available slots are open for recruitment.

During a media briefing in Lusaka, Defense Minister Ambrose Lufuma announced that the names of successful candidates will be published in the Zambia Daily Mail, Times of Zambia, and the Ministry of Defense website on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday of the following week. The shortlisted candidates are expected to report to the provincial centers on Sunday, June 18, 2023.

The Minister also outlined that the third phase would involve further screening, including medical, physical, and aptitude tests, before publishing the final list of successful candidates. He emphasized that the prospective military personnel would have the responsibility to safeguard Zambia’s sovereignty and may be deployed both domestically and internationally.

Minister Lufuma expressed gratitude to the youth for their patience and resilience throughout the recruitment process, extending his best wishes to the successful candidates as they embark on military training.

• From the menu bar, select the desired career option.
• Scroll down the page and choose one of the shortlisted candidates.
• Open the downloaded file using any PDF reader.
• Enter your name or application number in the search bar.
