Police Caught A Track Carrying 70 Dogs Heading For Kasumbalesa, DRC

POLICE in Mkushi Central province have intercepted a truck laden with 70 dogs destined for Kasumbalesa.

Central province acting police commanding officer Moola Kabwe confirmed the incident in an interview.

He said out of the 70 dogs,  25 were found alive while the rest died in a container.

Mr Kabwe said officers intercepted a truck Inveco registration number ALC 9342 that was laden with the dogs.

He said the truck was impounded at Nkumbi police check point.

Mr Kabwe said six suspects have since been detained at Mkushi police station.

He said the truck was coming from Nchelenge Luapula province.

“The matter has since been handed over to veterinary department. The suspects who are in police custody include James Mwape Chishimba aged 60, Jonathan Moyo aged 28, . Gift Mukupa aged 29 and Stephen Lukali aged 42,” he said.

Mr Kabwe said others are Paul Katembula aged 28 and Oscar Kapesa aged 39.
